We take an individualized approach to diagnosis, management, intervention and follow-up for venous, arterial and lymphatic conditions. 

Meet the Team

The physicians providing and or supervising all patient care at Vascular Health Bronte are Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified specialists in Vascular Surgery. In addition, they hold additional certification in non-invasive vascular imaging (Vascular ultrasound) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. 

Dr. David Szalay

MD, MEd, RVT, FRCSC

Dr. David Szalay is a Vascular Surgeon and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He is graduate of the Temerty School of Medicine (MD) and Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (Masters in Education) at the University of Toronto. 

Dr. Szalay is very active in medical / surgical education and quality improvement with numerous past and current roles at a local, provincial and national level including many years as an examiner and member of the Specialty Committee in Vascular Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and as a Surgeon Champion for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP). He has held discipline leadership responsibilities such as Chair of the Section for Vascular Surgery with the Ontario Medical Association, and more than a decade on the provincial (CorHealth) Advisory Committee for Vascular Surgery.  His research interests focus on surgical education, practice change, and participation / collaboration in clinical research trials in vascular surgery and vascular medicine. He was the project lead and first author for the most recent Canadian practice guidelines for the management of chronic venous disease and co-author for the Canadian best practice guidelines for peripheral arterial disease (2022). 

Dr. Szalay’s primary practice site is at St. Michael’s Hospital Toronto but he does provide consultations and follow up on average 1 day per week at Vascular Health Bronte.

Dr. Beverley Chan

Details

Dr. Chan is a vascular surgeon and Division lead at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. She completed her General Surgery residency at the University of Ottawa and Vascular Surgery fellowship at McMaster University. She has a special interest in chronic venous disease and lymphedema. She is a member of the American Venous Forum and was the past chair for the Patient Education Committee. She also leads the multidisciplinary wound care clinic at OTMH.

Dr. Nada Elmazariky

Dr. Elmazariky, MD (MBChB) FRCPC, is an Internal Medicine specialist and serves as the Division Lead in Thrombosis Medicine at Joseph Brant Hospital. She works primarily as a thrombosis consultant in Oakville and Burlington area. Currently holding the position of Clinical Adjunct Professor at McMaster University, Dr. Elmazariky completed her Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Perioperative vascular medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Elmazariky has been recognized by her peers and received outstanding consultant award at Joseph Brant Hospital. As an active member of Thrombosis Canada and the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Dr. Elmazariky demonstrates a profound commitment to advancing community access to thrombosis expertise and excellence in patient care. 

Dr Graham McClure

MD, MSc, FRCSC RPVI

Details

Dr McClure is a vascular surgeon at Halton Healthcare, a Clinician Investigator in the Department of Vascular Surgery at McMaster University, and a research fellow at the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). He practices all aspects of Vascular Surgery, focusing on peripheral arterial and venous disease.

Dr McClure earned his medical degree from McMaster University, where he concurrently completed his Masters in Clinical Epidemiology, and then continued on to complete his residency in Vascular Surgery.  He has completed advanced endovascular training at centers of excellence in Paris France and Hamburg Germany.

As a Clinician Investigator Dr McClure co-authored national guidelines on the management of peripheral vascular disease and has published over 50 scientific articles. His work is supported by the Canadian Institute for Health Research, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society. His research interests include medical optimization in peripheral vascular disease, antithrombotic therapy following peripheral revascularization, intravascular imaging strategies, and social determinants of health in vascular surgery.
